Sankalpa
After Achamana, clean your right palm using water from the Panchapatra. Then take fresh water, unbroken rice (Akshata), and flowers in your cleaned right hand and recite the Puja Sankalpa Patha (statement of intent). After reading it, release the water in front of you. Replace (अमुक) with the relevant details. Example, अमुक - वासरे should be replace with सोमवासरे (Monday - 20th Oct).

ENGLISH MEANING

Om Tat Sat — On this sacred day of the Creator Brahma, during the second part of the day, in the present Shveta-Varaha Kalpa (current age of creation), in Jambudvipa (the continent that includes India), in Bharata Khanda (the land of India), in such-and-such region and holy place (insert name), in the Kali Yuga, in its first quarter, in the current year (insert year name), in the month of Kartika, during the Krishna Paksha (waning fortnight), on the Amavasya Tithi (new moon day), on this specific weekday (insert day), I (insert your name) born in the (insert your Gotra) lineage, together with my wife, sons, and relatives, perform this Puja for attaining fame, success, and victory in all directions. It is also for removal of all misfortunes, fulfillment of all desires, attainment of wealth not yet received, and preservation of the wealth already gained. I also perform this for prosperity in my business or work, and for earning abundant wealth through the grace and blessings of Maha Lakshmi, the Goddess of Fortune.

TRANSLITERATION

स्वस्ति-वाचन-कलश-स्थापन-पूर्वकम् यथा सम्पादित-सामग्र्या गणपति-सूर्य-आदि-नव-ग्रह-षोडश-मातृका-आदि-पूजन-सहितम् दीप-आवल्याम् श्री-गणेश-लक्ष्मी-प्रतिमा-पूजनम् करिष्ये ।

ENGLISH MEANING

Having performed the Swasti Vachana and Kalasha Sthapana (invocation and installation rituals), and having gathered all the required materials, I shall now perform, on the occasion of Deepavali (Diwali), the worship of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi, along with the worship of the Sun, the nine planets (Navagrahas), and the sixteen Divine Mothers (Shodasha Matrikas).

TRANSLITERATION

svasti-vācana-kalaśa-sthāpana-pūrvakam yathā sampādita-sāmagryā gaṇapati-sūrya-ādi-nava-graha-ṣoḍaśa-mātṛkā-ādi-pūjana-sahitam dīpa-āvalyām śrī-gaṇeśa-lakṣmī-pratimā-pūjanam kariṣye .
